Baseball Team Logos

Baseball team logos have provided major league franchises the opportunity to create legendary identities over the years.  From the iconic "NY" combo of the New York Yankees to the red socks of Boston, most of these symbols are easily recognizable by baseball fans everywhere.

Some teams, like the Dodgers or Cubs, have have undergone only minimal changes and updates for many years.  Others, like the Brewers or Mariners, have tried to keep a more modern look with major redesigns and updates.

Whatever the approach, these franchises have left a trail of iconic emblems for more than a century.  And their logos are an important part of baseball history.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Logos of the American League show how some teams, like the Tigers or the Blue Jays, aren't afraid to go back to their roots while others, like the Angels or Astros, are looking to stay ahead of the trends by routinely updating their emblem with style and edge.

Most have undergone some drastic changes, like Minnesota discarding the twins shaking hands or the White Sox adding and ditching the white sock.  But the Athletics, since moving to Oakland, and the Royals have made only minor adjustments to their logos.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Logos in the National League are a mixed bag as well, with the Dodgers, Rockies and Mets remaining virtually unchanged since their arrival in their respective cities while teams like the Phillies and Brewers have done some major emblem renovations.

Where would the Cardinals be without the bird on the bat?  Or the Pirates without the stern look of a buccaneer?  Or the Reds without that iconic "C"?
